This section will be driven by reader submissions and we are looking for your help in making this a vibrant section of our website.
This section will include results from games and announcements about tryouts, fundraisers, registrations etc. Please phone Bernie at 289-214-3434 if you have any questions or email him at bernie@bpsportsniagara.com or bill@bpsportsniagara.com. We are also willing to come to your club to discuss how easy it is to make submissions to bpsportsniagara.com
Below are a couple of examples to help get you started.
HOCKEY/LACROSSE
John Smith scored three goals to lead the St. Catharines minor bantam hockey/lacrosse team to a 5-2 win over Caledonia.
Mike Brown and Tom Jones also scored for the Falcons and assists were contributed by Brown (2), Jones, Brad Bitts, Frank Wallace and John Doe. Eric Green made 12 saves to record the win in goal and was helped by strong games from defencemen Reid Willis and Mark McCumber.
BASKETBALL
Janice Jackson netted 18 points to help the St. Catharines minor bantam girls basketball team record a 42-33 victory over Ancaster.
Also scoring for the Rebels were Belle Bower (10), Della Wright (9) and Kathy Belt (5). Betty Boop rebounded well and Jane Doe had a strong game on defence.
GOLF
Following are results from the Ladies Group at Shady Hollow Golf Club.
Low gross: Millie Smith 43.
Low net: Carly Simon 28.
Closest to the pin: Shelly Brown, No. 8; Billy-Jo Dupont, No. 6.
Least putts: Dianne Cannon 11.
SWIMMING
The St. Catharines Sinkers Swim Team won six medals at the Western Ontario Divisionals held in Etobicoke.
Following are the top finishers:
Under-9 girls: Sally Splash, gold 100-metre backstroke, silver 50-metre IM; Jane Doe, third 100-metre freestyle.
Under-10 girls: Dawn Day, gold 100-metre IM, silver 200-metre butterfly; Ruth White, fourth 50-metre IM.
GYMNASTICS
The Thorold Flyers Gymnastics Club had a strong showing at the recent Gymnastics Ottawa meet.
Following are top results:
Level 10 age 11 girls: Lisa Miller, gold bar, third beam, fifth overall; Amanda Marshall, gold floor, fifth balance beam, fifth floor.
FOOTBALL
The St. Mary senior boys football team defeated Holy Rosary 28-12 in recent high school action.
Ted Schroeder had TD runs of seven and 12 yards and Mike Bullard threw TD passes of 12 yards to Tyler Defoe and 11 yards to Keith Nancy. Joe Blow made eight tackles and had a sack and Kelly File recovered a fumble.
REGISTRATION
The Thorold Badminton Club is holding its registration Monday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at Richmond Street School in Thorold.
Cost for the year is $180 and includes birds, towels and T-shirt.

The St. Catharines Broomball Association is holding a trivia night and silent auction Aug. 18 at the CAW Hall to raise funds for its junior girls travel team.
