Ten Brock wrestlers made finals at Olympic trials
The Brock Wrestling Club had an excellent showing at the Canadian Olympic wrestling trials this past weekend in Niagara Falls.
“It was fantastic. We had a great weekend,” said an exhausted Marty Calder after the last final Saturday evening at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls. “The kids wrestled extremely well and having 10 in the finals was amazing.”
But the finals weren’t the only place where Brock wrestlers had breakout performances.
“Today (Saturday) on the backside (consolation), we had some huge wins,” Calder said.
The only downer of the day was a tough 2-1 loss by Brock’s Olivia Di Bacco in the 68-kilogram division to Dinos Wrestling Club’s Danielle Lappage in the final match of the competition.
“We lost to a great opponent in a nail-biter and that’s the way it goes,” Calder said. “She’ll be back.”
