Weekend Golden Horseshoe roundup
Dylan Scriver fired three goals as the Thorold Blackhawks outscored the Fort Erie Meteors 9-4 in a Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Conference game Saturday at the Leisureplex.
Cam Lightfoot and Brad Ditillio added two each while singles went to Ethan Mercer and Nicholas Rubino.
Chase Grsic was busy in goal for Thorold turning back 49 shots.
Tyler Decoff, Nico Paone, Cail Cirillo and Philip DeCresce replied for the Meteors.
Thorold scored four goals with the man advantage and Fort Erie two.
Corvairs 6 Canucks 4
Joel Mazzilli’s goal with six minutes to play broke a 4-4 tie as the Caledonia Corvairs edged the visiting Niagara Falls Canucks Saturday at the Haldimand Centre.
Ryan Wells had two goals for the Corvairs while James Valente, Eric Allair and Nick McHugh also scored.
Andrew Bruno had two for the Canucks while Ryan Donovan and Jake Burke added singles.
Aidan Hughes made 27 saves in goal for the Corvairs.
Junior Canadians 6 Panthers 2
The Welland Junior Canadians picked up their second victory of the season with a win over the visiting Pelham Panthers Saturday in Welland.
Jarome Myers and Chase Johnson had two goals each for the winners while Adam Morgan and Dario Tesoro added singles.
Julien Bianchi and Cody Miskolczi replied for the Panthers.
A.J. Scala made 40 saves for the win.
Kilty B’s 7 Panthers 0
Justin Easter made 17 saves for the shutout as the visiting Hamilton Kilty B’s blanked the Pelham Panthers Sunday afternoon in Pelham.
Nolan Underwood scored twice for Hamilton while Jacob McEachern, Terry Bridgland, Jacob Macdonald, Ellis Rickwood and Justin Monteith also scored.
Corvairs 7 Junior Canadians 0
Hughes turned back 21 shots as the visiting Caledonia Corvairs blanked the Junior Canadians Sunday in Welland.
Mazzilli had three goals for the Corvairs while Tyler Burnie added two. Wells and Matthew Bridgwater also scored.
