Weekend Golden Horseshoe wrap-up
The Thorold Blackhawks gave up a pair of late goals and had to settle for a 4-3 overtime loss at Caledonia in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Conference action Saturday.
Following two scoreless periods, the Blackhawks built a 3-1 lead by the 14:32 minute mark of the third before the Corvairs rallied with a pair of goals in the final three minutes, including the tying marker with one second remaining.
The Corvairs then won it in overtime when Tanner Brennecke scored at the 2:10 mark.
Nick McHugh, Jonathan Kilby and Colton Corpse also scored for Caledonia.
Mario Zitella, Trevor Neumann and Nicholas Rubino replied for the Hawks.
Chase Grsic made 46 saves in a losing effort.
Aiden Hughes turned back 22 shots in goal for Caledonia.
Kilty B’s 5 Meteors 2
The Kilty B’s scored a pair of goals in the third period to break open a close game at the Leisureplex in Fort Erie Saturday.
Jacob MacEachern, Eli Rivers, Jacob Macdonald, Ellis Rickwood and Justin Monteith scored for Hamilton.
Tyler Decoff and Tyler Sutherland, in his first game since being acquired from the Thorold Blackhawks, replied for Fort Erie.
Matteo Drobac made 27 saves in net for the win.
Jacob Hearne kicked out 31 saves and took the loss.
St. Catharines at Pelham and Fort Erie at Welland Sunday were postponed due to weather and will be made up later in the season.
